What this means for your trip
- 18 to 20: you're choosing between smaller campervans. Travellers Autobarn and Spaceships say they charge no young-driver fee. JUCY accepts 18-year-olds on campervans; ask about any surcharge in your quote.
- Most family motorhomes need a driver of 21 or over: JUCY's motorhomes, Star RV, Cruisin', and every Apollo-listed model except the budget ones named above. If the only 21+ adult is a passenger, they'll need to be the driver on the agreement.
- Over 75: Star RV's limit is 75 and Cruisin's is 79. Travellers Autobarn rents to 80, and Apollo sets no maximum.
Licence rules
- You need a full licence. Star RV doesn't accept learner or probationary licences, including a red P plate or P1 licence; it does accept an Australian green P (P2) licence. Source
- If your licence isn't in English, Star RV and Cruisin' ask for an International Driving Permit or an official translation. Source
